The COOPER COLLECTION
The Cooper Collection is very dear to my heart. I started painting this collection in April 2024, just after my pup passed away. To say he was special was an understatement. He delighted everybody whose path he crossed. He embodied endless love of people, life and the cozy comforts in our house. This dog was the shepherd of my soul, and I still miss him every day.
Following my instincts, I picked up my paintbrush and started to paint. Art after all is one of the best known therapies for the soul. Warm muted colors flooded my palette, and I quickly moved from canvas to canvas in an expressive explosion of emotional processing.
The loss of what we love most, highlights the beauty of this life. I find that as a result, these paintings all breathe a sense of calm and peace, one that reflects Coopers love of life.
The 24K gold leaf in all these paintings adds another unique dimension to the work, showing us that what we look at, can change depending on our vantage point and the time of day. Golf leaf involves applying thin and at times frustratingly frail sheets of gold to create a deeply luminous effect on the canvas.
I hope you will enjoy these pieces as much as I do, and that they may find a lovely quiet space in your home to invite the same reflection on the good things in your life.
From “In Blackwater Woods”
To live in this world
You must be able
to do three things:
To love what is mortal;
to hold it
against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.
